Meet J de laVega.

J de la Vega is an author-illustrator of the best-selling bilingual picture book Wepa.

Wepa was given star reviews from booklist and SLJ, was selected one of the top ten children’s Spanish books by NYPL,
She currently resides in southern California with her children, partner, and smelly dogs. J is a proud advocate of representation, social justice, and believes everyone has a story that needs to be heard.

J published her first collection of poetry in 2007 in the early days of POD, and did not attempt publishing again until middle grade novel Peter Tulliver and the City of Monsters.

Petunia Brown was also self-published and became a best seller on Amazon. The success of the book pushed her to pursue traditional means and within a year she signed a publishing contract. No more than six months later she signed a second publishing contract, confirming she had found her niche.

Wepa received a blurb from award winning illustrator Leo Espinosa stating:
“The untamable energy of Mia bursts through the pages with texture and color, to make “wepa" understandable and relatable to all audiences.”

As well as a blurb from Boogie Boogie, Y’all author C.G. Esperanza:
"This book is so attention grabbing that even the kid with the most WEPA couldn't put it down!"
